Welcome to the Tiny Paper series. In this episode, we introduce Platform Ecology, a brand-new theoretical approach based on Oliver Ding's 2021 book draft, Platform for Development: The Ecology of Adult Development in the 21st Century.
In his article Platform, Platform-ba, and Platform Ecology, Oliver Ding begins with a personal story—his first family cruise from Galveston to Cozumel—treating the ship as a platform.
From this example, he develops a set of new concepts, including Platform, Platform-ba, Supportance, and Affordance, forming a novel theoretical framework for studying platform-based social practices.
Check out the original article to explore the full details of this approach.
