The “Dramatic Life Pattern” theme was born in October 2024, while Oliver Ding was working on two GAP projects.

In November 2025, Ding released a possible book, Developmental Projects: The Project Engagement Approach to Adult Development. The epilogue of the book defined the “Dramatic Life Pattern” theme as the next direction of the approach.

The theme refers to structural configurations in adult life development that are significant enough to warrant attention, study, and strategic engagement.

For example, GAP Projects represent a temporal pattern: the structural opportunities that exist between formal projects. These “After” and “Before” projects — such as Creative Life Curation and Creative Life Discovery — occupy the gaps between major endeavors.

This thematic brief collects several articles exploring this theme.
