Thematic Card: Field Curation
In November 2015, a systems researcher shared a paper on recent developments in systems research with Oliver Ding.
It inspired Oliver Ding to reflect on his personal journey of encountering the theme of “Systems Thinking” early in his career. In the process, he revisited a 2019 article in which he articulated core ideas of Curativity Theory.
Through this reflection, Oliver began exploring how Curativity Theory could be applied to the “Field” level of knowledge engagement. This line of thinking eventually led to the emergence of a new creative theme:
Field Curation
To support further inquiry into this theme, Oliver introduced the “Pieces–Container–Platform–Network” schema as an operational research framework. A related Possible Project is planned for 2026.
What You’ll Find Inside
This thematic card includes Oliver’s short essay, presented as the Thematic Brief behind the “Field Curation” theme.
